Substitute Davorin Tosic decides Zeleznicar's late 2-0 win over Macva

Zeleznicar beat Macva 2-0 in Pancevo after a goalless first half. Substitute Davorin Tosic broke the deadlock late in the match and scored again to settle the opening fixture of the round.

The deadlock lasted beyond the interval

Zeleznicar and Macva reached half-time at 0-0, and the match remained goalless well into the second period. Neither side had created a scoreboard advantage during the opening half, so the contest was still available to both teams when the final quarter approached.

That long wait gave extra importance to the opening goal. With less time remaining, the team that moved ahead would force the opponent to change the score quickly. Macva stayed level until late in the contest, but the balance then ended.

Tosic changed the game from the bench

Zeleznicar can take encouragement from finding a solution after a long closed period rather than forcing the match too early. Macva need to understand why the structure that held for most of the game failed twice in the final stretch. The 2-0 score belongs to the home side, but the timing shows that the contest was decided by late execution rather than continuous separation.
