Robert Prosinecki leaves his role as Kyrgyzstan national team coach

Robert Prosinecki is no longer the head coach of the Kyrgyzstan national football team. The federation confirmed the end of the agreement after a term that lasted about eight months.

Prosinecki took the role in December 2025. His departure came before he led Kyrgyzstan in a competitive match, so the next coach will begin with the main tournament work still ahead.

Prosinecki and the federation ended their agreement after talks

Reports around the decision state that the federation's new leadership wanted to revise parts of the agreement. Prosinecki did not accept the proposed terms, and the sides ended their work together. The separation appears to have been completed through agreement rather than a dismissal after one result. That distinction matters because the coach had not yet received a full competitive cycle.

The federation must now appoint a new coach

Kyrgyzstan need a coach who can enter the programme without a long delay. The next international window will arrive quickly, and players need clear information about selection and roles. A rushed appointment can create another short partnership, but waiting too long can waste preparation.

The federation must balance those risks and define the terms before the new coach signs.

The squad also needs continuity in medical, analysis and travel work. Those areas can remain stable even when the person leading the team changes.
