Mina Popović

Mina Popović is a Serbian middle blocker with Olympic, world and European experience.

Born in Kraljevo on 16 September 1994, Popović developed at Red Star and entered senior volleyball through a club that gave her domestic league and cup experience. She later played in Italy, Turkey and Russia, learning different tempos and tactical expectations around the same middle-blocker role.

Volleyball World lists her at 187 centimetres. Her position depends on early reading because the middle blocker cannot wait for the set to become obvious. She follows reception quality, the setter's body and the approach of opposing attackers, then decides where to close the net with a teammate.

In attack, Popović can hold the opposing middle with a quick route and create room for Serbia's outside hitters. Even when she does not receive the ball, a convincing approach has value. When the pass allows it, her fast finish prevents the block from settling into a comfortable wide position.

Her national-team career includes major medals and two Olympic appearances recorded by the Serbian Olympic Committee, including bronze in Tokyo. Experience changes her responsibility. She can help younger players read the next rotation, keep the block call clear and reset the group after a difficult sequence.

A veteran middle blocker also manages physical load carefully. Repeated jumps, lateral movement and travel require recovery that protects speed rather than only strength. Club and national staffs may use different serving or blocking plans, so clear communication during a short preparation window is essential.

Popović contributes through visible points and through positioning that helps Serbia organize the back-court defence. Her experience is especially useful after a difficult rally, when the team must confirm the next rotation and block assignment quickly. Calm preparation between points allows her technical reading to remain effective under pressure.
