Vojvodina will open their 2026/27 Serbian SuperLiga season against OFK Beograd on Sunday. The match starts at 19:00 at the Karadjordje Stadium in Novi Sad. Club president Dragoljub Zbiljic has publicly set the highest domestic positions as the target. His statement follows Vojvodina's second-place finish last season.
The league opener arrives during a difficult European period. Vojvodina were eliminated by Ferencvaros in Europa League qualifying. They now move into the Conference League and face Ajax in the second qualifying round. The domestic match against OFK Beograd comes before that European tie.
Second place changed the level of expectation
Vojvodina ended the 2025/26 Serbian championship in second place. It was the club's best league finish since the 2008/09 season. The official league record lists both campaigns among Vojvodina's second-place finishes. The new title statement therefore follows a recent result, not only the club's history.
The previous season also ended with another Serbian Cup final defeat against Red Star. It was Vojvodina's third consecutive loss to the same opponent in the final. Those results placed the club close to two domestic trophies without delivering either one.
Zbiljic addressed supporters, players, coaches and club staff before the first round. He called for unity throughout the season and invited supporters to the stadium. The central sporting message was direct: Vojvodina will pursue the highest positions in the league.
The official league schedule places Vojvodina against OFK Beograd on 19 July. Kick-off is listed for 19:00 local time. Karadjordje Stadium hosts the match. Both clubs begin the fixture with no points in the new table.
The same pairing also appeared late in the previous campaign. OFK Beograd hosted Vojvodina on 17 May during round 36. The teams produced 13 shots each, while Vojvodina recorded six attempts on target. That match closed the old season; the new table starts every club from zero.

Sunday's game is one of the remaining fixtures in the opening round. Red Star and Zeleznicar started with victories. Other first-round matches are spread across the weekend. Vojvodina enter the competition after several clubs have already posted their first results.
European qualifying has already changed direction
Vojvodina began the summer in Europa League qualifying. Ferencvaros ended that route over two matches. The Serbian club therefore transferred to the Conference League path. That change was confirmed before the domestic season began.
Ajax are the next European opponent in the second qualifying round. The Dutch club bring a different level of continental experience from the first domestic opponent. The two competitions also use separate schedules and registration rules.
The OFK Beograd match remains a league fixture with three points available. The Ajax tie decides whether Vojvodina continue in Europe. Placing both events in the same week creates a compact calendar, but their sporting consequences remain distinct.
Karadjordje begins another full league campaign
Vojvodina were founded in 1914 and play their home matches at Karadjordje Stadium. The club have won two Yugoslav league titles, in 1965/66 and 1988/89. They also won the Serbian Cup in 2013/14 and 2019/20.
The 2026/27 campaign starts with a 14-team league table. Every club begins from zero, regardless of the previous season. Vojvodina's second-place finish supplies context for the ambition, while the new standings start at zero.
Another Serbian team in action on 18 July was the unbeaten U20 basketball side in Ljubljana.
| Opening match | Vojvodina vs OFK Beograd |
|---|---|
| Kick-off | 19 July, 19:00, Novi Sad |
| Previous league finish | Second place |
| Next European opponent | Ajax |
Sunday's attendance will be the first home crowd of the league season. Zbiljic made the stadium invitation part of his public message. The opening match will record the first points, goals and disciplinary entries of Vojvodina's new domestic campaign.
The title statement now has a fixed starting point
The club's declared target is no longer a general summer phrase. It is attached to a confirmed opening date, opponent and venue. Vojvodina meet OFK Beograd on 19 July at 19:00. The first league result will then replace the empty line in the standings.

European elimination has not changed the public domestic aim. Vojvodina still begin as the previous season's runners-up. At the same time, the Ajax tie remains part of their July schedule. The club enters the new league while another competition is already active.
These are the confirmed conditions before kick-off. Vojvodina have a second-place finish behind them, OFK Beograd in the first round and Ajax next in Europe. The title ambition will be measured through the league results that begin on Sunday.
The Ajax dates follow immediately after the league opener
UEFA lists Vojvodina at home to Ajax on 23 July. The return match is scheduled in Amsterdam on 30 July. Both games belong to the Conference League second qualifying round.
The first European match follows four days after the SuperLiga opener. The second leg follows one week later. Those dates place three confirmed fixtures inside twelve days.
Ajax enter at the same qualifying stage. The tie winner advances to the third qualifying round. The defeated team is eliminated from this season's competition.
Domestic and European fixtures use separate standings. Vojvodina and OFK Beograd begin the new league match with zero points. The result in Novi Sad is recorded separately from both Ajax games.
The opening weekend has already begun
Red Star and Zeleznicar recorded wins before Vojvodina's Sunday match. Their points belong to completed fixtures in the same opening round.
Vojvodina start with zero because their game has not begun. The league table will add the Novi Sad result after the final whistle.
Vojvodina begin the campaign with the title named as the target and last season's second place as the reference point. The opening fixture in Novi Sad gives the new squad its first chance to turn that statement into league points.
