Milos Kos will miss the start of Partizan's handball preparations after fracturing his right hand. The injury affects the third metacarpal bone. His expected recovery period is between six and eight weeks.
Kos joined Partizan this summer and signed a two-year contract. The Serbian international arrived from German club Erlangen. His first appearance for the new team will now come later than planned.
Partizan began work in Belgrade before moving part of its programme to Ub. The first Regional League matches are scheduled for late August. Kos is unlikely to participate during that opening period.
The injury affects the throwing hand
Kos suffered a fracture in the third metacarpal of his right hand. That area connects the middle finger with the wrist structure. It carries force during gripping, passing and powerful throws.
A hand injury has direct importance for every court position. Kos plays left back and often shoots from distance. Every pass and shot loads the injured hand during fast movement.
The estimated absence covers six to eight weeks. That period includes bone healing before full handball contact returns. The exact return depends on later examinations and functional progress.
Partizan's closing preparation phase now continues without him. Kos will miss several weeks of full team training. His competitive debut remains delayed until the hand recovers.
Partizan signed Kos for a new project
Kos chose Partizan after ending his period with Erlangen in Germany. The move returned him to a club from the region. His contract covers the next two seasons.
He described Partizan's new sporting project as an important reason. The arrival of coach Raul Gonzalez also influenced the decision. Gonzalez brings extensive experience from leading European handball.
Partizan added Kos to strengthen the left-back position. His size and shooting offer a threat outside the defensive block. He also brings experience from several different club systems.

The injury changes the timing but not the completed contract. Kos remains a Partizan player during his recovery. Only his first appearance moves beyond the opening matches.
His career developed through three countries
Kos first gained wider attention with Izvidjac in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The club has a strong record of developing young handball players. Regular senior minutes prepared him for a move abroad.
He later joined Zagreb and entered a more demanding competitive schedule. The Croatian club plays domestic and major European matches. Kos faced deeper defensive systems and stronger physical opponents.
Erlangen then brought experience from the German Bundesliga. That league combines high speed with frequent physical contact. Kos now returns with lessons from one of handball's strongest competitions.
Partizan becomes the next stage of that regional and European path. The club expects him to contribute after recovery. The hand fracture only postpones the beginning of that work.
Kos already has a Serbian national team record
Kos made his senior Serbia debut during the 2022 season. He had already played a central role for the junior national team. Those appearances established him among Serbia's leading generation.
The juniors won a European bronze medal in 2022. Kos contributed from the back line during that successful tournament. The result remains an important achievement for his age group.
Serbia then finished fourth at the junior world championship in 2023. That run brought another series of high-pressure knockout matches. Kos carried that experience into his later club seasons.
The official European roster lists Kos with senior international experience. It records twenty-three appearances and sixty-seven goals for Serbia. Those matches add another factual part of his playing record.
The preparation calendar continues without him
Partizan opened its summer programme with training sessions in Belgrade. The team then planned additional work in Ub. Fitness, ball sessions and friendly matches build toward late August.
The Regional League provides the first major competitive dates. Partizan expects those matches near the end of August. The Serbian Super Cup follows inside the early-season period.
A six-week absence reaches the beginning of that schedule. An eight-week recovery would extend further into competitive action. Kos therefore faces a gradual return rather than an immediate debut.

The final preparation phase continues without Kos. The available squad works in Ub under Raul Gonzalez. The recovery estimate extends beyond the first Regional League dates.
Left back carries a demanding attacking role
A left back operates outside the central playmaker and near the wing. The position attacks through long shots, crosses and direct movement. Defenders often make contact before the shooting action finishes.
Kos offers power from that area of the court. His height helps him release shots above a compact defensive wall. He also creates passing lanes when defenders move toward him.
The throwing hand controls every part of those actions. Grip supports accuracy while the wrist shapes the final release. Full confidence becomes important before competitive contact resumes.
Partizan signed Kos to a two-year contract. The two-year contract gives the partnership time beyond the injury. His first contribution will begin after a complete recovery.
The debut waits beyond the opening matches
Kos arrived in Belgrade expecting to begin work with new teammates. The fracture interrupted that first stage before competitive matches. It did not remove his role from Partizan's wider plans.
Medical checks will follow the healing of the affected bone. Later hand exercises restore movement, grip and confidence. Court contact returns only after those stages are complete.
Partizan enters late August without its new left back. The team begins competitive play during his estimated absence. Kos will join the match squad after completing recovery.
The immediate news is a delay of six to eight weeks. Kos remains one of Partizan's important summer signings. His debut will follow recovery from the right-hand fracture.
Partizan also returns to the Champions League
Partizan received a place in the Champions League for the new season. The club returns to the competition after thirteen years. That campaign joins its domestic and regional schedule.
The European competition now includes twenty-four teams. They are divided into six groups of four clubs. Partizan enters that expanded field under Raul Gonzalez.
Partizan also added several experienced players during the summer. Vladislav Kulesh, Joav Lumbroso and Tobias Wagner joined the squad. Kos was signed as another senior option at left back.
For now, the confirmed issue remains the fractured right hand. A six-to-eight-week recovery delays both preparation and the first match. The completed contract keeps his future role with Partizan unchanged.
