Handball club Partizan AdmiralBet has publicly called on the leadership of the ARKUS League, the Handball Federation of Serbia and Vojvodina to allow the playoff final series to continue and to decide the new national champion on the handball court.
After the interruption of the second game of the final, the Black and Whites sent an official letter to the relevant authorities, asking that the match be played and that the title race be resolved in a sporting manner. Partizan believes that the Serbian champion should not be determined by circumstances off the court, but by performance, quality and character.
According to the club, Partizan AdmiralBet players, unlike Vojvodina’s players, returned to warm up as soon as the conditions for the match to resume were met. However, the Belgrade club says it is ready to do so once again if the ARKUS League and the Handball Federation of Serbia decide that the final series should continue.
Partizan emphasized that it wants to climb onto the winners’ podium only after proving on the court that it is the better team. The club from Humska also recalled the first match of the final series, which was organized in Belgrade and, according to Partizan, passed without a single incident. The Black and Whites won that game 33:27 and took a 1:0 lead in the title race.
Partizan also questioned whether Vojvodina’s players would have acted differently had they been the ones leading 1:0 in the final series. The club believes the only fair solution is for the second match to be played and for the championship battle to be completed on the court.
The Black and Whites also referred to more than a decade of Vojvodina’s dominance in Serbian handball. During that period, Partizan players lost several finals, sometimes by double-digit margins, but, as the club points out, they never refused to take the court, fought until the end and shook hands with the better opponent.
“We behaved honorably and with dignity even in difficult times, when trophies were out of reach. That is why we want to step onto this winners’ podium only after showing on the court that we are the better and stronger team,” Partizan said.
The club hopes that Vojvodina will show the same desire, sporting spirit and courage, so that the final series can be concluded in a manner worthy of a battle for the Serbian championship title.
With this move, Partizan AdmiralBet has made it clear that it does not want the title to be decided off the court. The club wants the final to continue and the champion to be determined in front of the fans and the Serbian handball public.
