Marica Perišić wins 57kg bronze at the Lima Grand Prix

Marica Perišić won a bronze medal in the women's 57-kilogram division at the Lima Grand Prix. The Serbian shared third place with Jessica Lima of Brazil after the category finished.

Pihla Salonen of Finland won gold, while Adriana Rodriguez Salvador of Spain took silver. Perišić was Serbia's only woman among the three national entries at the tournament.

The podium contained four medal winners

Judo awards two bronze medals in each weight category. Perišić and Lima therefore both appear in third place. Their medals came through separate branches of the competition. Salonen finished first and Rodriguez Salvador finished second. Perišić and Lima completed the four-medal group. Each bronze came from a separate medal contest.

Perišić therefore shares third place in the final ranking. She did not share one medal with Lima. Both athletes received separate bronze medals from the same category.

Perišić added another result to Serbia's judo season

Serbia entered two men and one woman in Lima. Perišić competed in the women's class under 57 kilograms. Vasilije Grujičić entered the men's 81-kilogram division, while Vidak Maljević entered the heaviest men's category. The three Serbian entries belonged to separate individual brackets. Perišić supplied the first Serbian podium from that group. The men's categories continued later in the programme.

Grujičić competed at 81 kilograms, while Maljević entered the heavyweight division. Their results did not affect the women's podium. Perišić's bronze came only from the 57-kilogram draw.

The category included experienced European opponents

The final ranking placed Salonen ahead of Rodriguez Salvador. Lima and Perišić followed with bronze medals. Acelya Toprak and Veronica Toniolo finished fifth after losing their bronze contests.

Malin Wilson Claret and Mina Libeer occupied the two seventh places. Those positions completed the leading eight in the category. Each athlete reached that place through the tournament bracket.

The leading eight contained athletes from eight different nations. European judoka occupied six of those positions. Lima represented the host continent among the bronze medallists.

The 57kg limit defines the complete bracket

Perišić entered Lima after a fifth place at the European Championships in April. She had finished seventh at the Tbilisi Grand Slam one month earlier. Both results came in the same weight category. Her previous season included a gold medal at the Zagreb Grand Prix. She also placed seventh at the 2025 World Championships. Those results kept her near the leading group in the world ranking.

Perišić also finished seventh at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Earlier that year, she won the Upper Austria Grand Prix. Lima added another World Tour medal to that record.

Lima brought together 311 judoka from 53 countries

The Grand Prix entry list contained 178 men and 133 women. Athletes represented 53 countries from six continental unions. The women's 57-kilogram category contained 22 competitors. European nations supplied 118 entries across the complete event. Pan-American countries supplied 149 athletes across the complete Grand Prix. Perišić represented Serbia in the women's bracket inside that larger international field.

The tournament ran from 14 to 16 August. Perišić's category finished during the opening programme.

The later days continued with other women's and men's divisions.

The medal supports her current world position

The Serbian judoka entered the event among the leading athletes in her category. The current world list placed her eleventh with 2,394 points. That total was recorded before the Lima medal. Her bronze became another completed result from the current season. The competition record now includes the Lima podium beside her earlier international finishes.

Perišić has won Grand Prix titles in Zagreb and Upper Austria. She also owns medals from Grand Slam competition. Lima extended that record with another bronze finish.

Lima ends with a clear medal record

Perišić left the women's 57-kilogram competition with bronze. Salonen took gold, Rodriguez Salvador took silver, and Lima received the other bronze medal. The result followed two top-seven finishes earlier in the season. Perišić now has another podium before the Mediterranean Games. That competition begins later in August.

Lima gave Serbia its medal through the only woman in the national entry. Perišić completed a twenty-two-athlete category in third place. Her season continues with another major international start.

The 57kg bracket contained twenty-two athletes

The women's 57kg category was one of the larger opening divisions in Lima. Twenty-two judoka entered the complete women's bracket in Lima. Pihla Salonen finished first, Adriana Rodriguez Salvador took second, and the two bronze medals went to Perišić and Jessica Lima.

The complete Grand Prix entry contained 311 athletes from 53 countries. Women accounted for 133 entries and men for 178. Serbia sent Perišić, Vasilije Grujičić and Vidak Maljević. Their results came from three separate weight categories.
