Radnik and Crvena Zvezda draw 0-0 in Surdulica

Crvena Zvezda drew 0-0 away to Radnik in the postponed third round of the Serbian SuperLiga. Albert Riera's team controlled the ball for long periods and created chances through Aleksandar Katai, Timi Max Elsnik and Derrick Luckassen, but it did not score. Radnik defended the central spaces, resisted late pressure and earned one point. The result shows how Zvezda moved the ball against a compact defense. It also explains why control of the ball and the attacking area did not produce a goal.

Radnik protected the center first

The home team allowed Zvezda to move the ball through less dangerous areas and placed more defenders in front of the penalty area. Katai remained the main attacking threat

When a defense waits close to its goal, the attacking player in front of the defenders needs support on both sides. One teammate can move a defender away while another offers a short return pass. The substitutions increased speed without changing the score

Riera introduced new attacking players after about one hour and made more changes later. The substitutes helped Zvezda continue its pressure, but a new player can help only when the team gives him a clear task. Bukari could run into open areas, while the later changes supported the final attacks. Radnik responded with its own substitutes and kept enough energy near the penalty area. The final part of the match became more open, but the home team kept the distances between its defenders and midfielders.

A postponed match still gives normal league points

The match belonged to round three even though it was played later in the calendar. Both teams therefore had to include it in a different period of preparation and recovery. Zvezda could not treat it as a practice match, while Radnik had a chance to gain a valuable point against the champions. The unusual date explains the schedule but does not change the football. Once the match began, the same requirements applied: defend after losing the ball, use free kicks and corners well, and remain precise when fatigue makes the final action harder.

The 0-0 result identifies a specific attacking problem

A scoreless result does not mean Zvezda created nothing, and possession alone does not prove that a goal was deserved. The useful question is how many attacks ended with a controlled attempt on goal from a favorable area. Radnik accepted pressure because it limited that number. Zvezda now has a clear training topic: improve the final movement when an opponent protects the center and leaves space near the sides. Faster passing matters only if the next pass changes the position of the defensive line.

Both teams leave with useful conclusions

Radnik can trust the distances between its defenders but should not assume that the same deep defense will work against every opponent. More possession will be required in matches where Radnik must lead the attack. Zvezda can keep its patient preparation while adding sharper runs and placing more players near the far post. The point does not define the season. It gives both coaching teams a complete match to analyze and shows the difference between controlling an area and turning that control into a goal.
