Crvena zvezda now know their first opponent in Champions League qualifying. Larne beat Tre Fiori 1-0 away and reached the next round. The Serbian champions will play the first match in Northern Ireland and the return in Belgrade.
Crvena zvezda can now prepare for one confirmed opponent. Inver Park holds about 3,000 spectators and is different from a large European stadium. Larne have also played two competitive European matches. Zvezda have the stronger squad, but they must prove that advantage on the pitch.
Zvezda must adjust quickly in the first match
Zvezda first play away and must quickly understand Larne's plan. The home team are likely to defend close together, use direct passes and compete for loose balls. Zvezda can control the start with patient passing. Risky passes into a crowded centre would give Larne more chances to win the ball.
The first 15 minutes can show where Larne leave space. If they protect the centre, Zvezda should move the ball from one side to the other. If Larne press farther forward, space will open behind their first line. Zvezda should change the direction of attack instead of using the same closed area. The first match is scheduled for July 21, and the return in Belgrade follows on July 29. The eight-day gap gives both coaches time to adjust after seeing the first result. Zvezda can also use video from Inver Park to prepare more exact attacking positions in Belgrade.
Larne have already played competitive matches
The Northern Irish champions have already played a European qualifying tie. Their 1-0 away win over Tre Fiori was enough to take them through. Larne had to remain focused until the end. Those matches prepared them for free kicks, corners and the physical demands of qualifying.
Zvezda gained useful playing time in friendly matches, but a qualifier punishes mistakes more severely. The visitors must be fully focused from the first whistle. A poor pass at Inver Park can give Larne a corner and bring the home crowd into the match.

Zvezda must collect loose balls
When Larne send the ball forward early, the first duel may not decide possession. Zvezda's midfielders must stay close and collect the loose ball. The defence and midfield must also stay close together. Otherwise, one long pass from Larne can start another attack.
A loose ball can also start a Zvezda attack. Larne may leave space on the sides after moving forward. One accurate ball toward the flank can use that space. A rushed long shot may simply give the ball back and allow Larne to attack again.

Free kicks and corners may decide a close tie
Larne advanced from the previous round with one goal. Zvezda must therefore defend free kicks, corners and long throw-ins carefully. Every defender needs a clear opponent to mark. After clearing the ball, Zvezda must prepare for another cross.
Zvezda can also create chances from free kicks and corners. An accurate cross and well-timed runs can trouble Larne. Some players must remain outside the penalty area to collect loose balls and stop a counterattack.
The stronger squad still needs exact roles
Zvezda have more technical quality and more options on the bench. The players still need clear roles. Wide players must know when to stay near the touchline and when to enter the penalty area. One midfielder can support the attack while another remains ready to defend. Players should not make the same run into the same space.

The bench can alter the second half if the opening plan becomes slow. A direct winger, a fresh forward or a midfielder who moves the ball faster may change the angle of attack. Substitutions should answer what is happening on the pitch. They are most effective when they add a missing action, not when they simply add another attacking name.
An away goal should not change the discipline
If Zvezda score first, the tie will move toward them, but the next few minutes may be the most dangerous. Larne would have to take more risk and the crowd would demand a response. The visitors should keep the ball, reduce unnecessary fouls and make the home side work before another chance appears.
Zvezda should not leave their defence open while chasing a second goal. The first aim is to leave Northern Ireland with a good result and no new injuries. A larger lead would help, but it should come from patient play. One good period does not mean that the tie is finished.
The return match in Belgrade remains important
Zvezda will have a second chance to beat Larne in Belgrade, but the first match remains important. A good away result would force Larne to attack more in the return. A poor result in Northern Ireland would increase pressure on Zvezda at home.
The coaching staff will plan the two matches together while asking players to focus on the first one. Card risk, physical load and the result all affect the second leg. Zvezda can earn the best position through basic tasks. They must defend the box, move Larne, finish good chances and avoid giving the hosts confidence.
Victory would secure European football in the autumn
If Zvezda win this round, a place in the Conference League league phase is guaranteed. They will keep that place even if they lose in a later qualifying round. Zvezda can secure European matches in the autumn and continue to pursue the Champions League.
This reward should help Zvezda focus. They do not need a special tactical surprise. They need two disciplined performances against Larne. The Northern Irish club earned this match, and Zvezda must earn their own place in the next round.
